A Project Reopens but Linked Files Are Offline

Creative and engineering projects often store references to external assets. The project file can survive while footage, images, fonts, or datasets remain elsewhere.

What to check first

Identify the missing dependency paths listed by the application. Changed drive letters or moved folders can break links even when the assets still exist.

A practical recovery sequence

1. Locate and preserve the evidence. Save a copy of the project and collect its missing-file report. Search for the original asset folder before using a global relink operation.
